Program Director

The Program Director will be responsible for developing, managing, and leading all adult programs that take place at Mosaic Climbing. This person should have a wealth of climbing knowledge, and an SPI certification is a huge bonus. The Program Director should be a gifted instructor, capable of connecting with people of all skill levels and ages. This staff member should value safety and education above all else. The Program Director will commonly be asked to supervise staff on busy weekends, and should have the ability to guide, train, and direct staff efficiently and effectively. This person will be responsible for growing staff into competent, capable instructors.

Job Functions

  • Programs

    • Originate, coordinate, promote, supervise, implement, and evaluate quality programs that will improve member retention and assist all members in achieving goals 

    • Train quality instructors who will engage with customers and who share our philosophies about customer satisfaction, safety, and education

    • Prepare and check program budgets and generate income

    • Establish and implement monthly marketing strategies for programs

    • Purchase equipment and supplies for programs, clinics, and workshops

    • Keep staff informed of all programs, special events, and changes at all times

  • Facility Upkeep

    • Provide education and training on proper use of equipment to all members

    • Provide clean, safe, healthy environment for members, guests, and coworkers

    • Help oversee maintenance, cleanliness, and upkeep of facility and equipment in collaboration with Facilities Manager and Weekend Manager

    • Inspect all climbing equipment to ensure highest standards of maintenance and cleanliness

  • Membership Sales and Retention

    • Look for new members, generate leads, sell memberships, and continue to foster relationships for member referrals.

    • Meet sales skills standards (phone presentation, building rapport, greeting, needs, touring, trial closing, overcoming objections, closing)

    • Track membership activity using POS reporting software

  • Other

    • Maintain all current certifications through continuing education

    • Actively participate in all phases of major facility functions and special events

    • Lead by example, especially in areas of appearance, punctuality, professionalism

  • Requirements​

    • Physical strength and manual dexterity required

    • CPR/First Aid/AED certified

    • Minimum 2 years working in climbing industry

    • Minimum 4 years climbing experience

    • Minimum climbing ability of 5.10 and V3

    • Exemplary belaying and lead climbing skill

    • SPI and WFR certifications are a bonus

    • Ability to work weekends
